Letter to the Editor

On July 28, 2017, I had sent via email the following letter to the Fort Myers News-Press Mailbag:

Heed the Founders’ Wisdom

Dear Editor,

Over the year  we had heard how Trump will “drain the swamp” and “make America great again” when he becomes president. Well, so far he hasn’t done that good of a job. The primary reason is because as president, he is just a cog in the federal leviathan known as Washington DC. Other cogs in this leviathan are Congress, the Supreme Court, and bureaucrats or lobbyists.

There is only one way to truly “make America great again” and it is when 34 state legislatures apply for an Article V Convention of States for the purpose of proposing amendments to the current United States Constitution which will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and limit the terms of office for its officials and for members of Congress. So far 12 states (Georgia, Alaska, Florida, Alabama, Indiana, Tennessee, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arizona, North Dakota, Texas, and Missouri) had already passed the application, with Missouri being the latest to pass it in June.

The Founders put the Convention method in Article V for such a time as this. They knew that the national government would be out of control. It is time for us to heed the wisdom of the Founders. Go to http://www.conventionofstates.com for more information.
